New Gaelic TV service, BBC ALBA will be launched at 9pm on 19 September. Co-funded by MG Alba (formerly known as the Gaelic Media Service) and the BBC, the channel will be available on satellite and cable throughout the UK and online. It is hoped that BBC ALBA will also be available on Freeview in Scotland after the digital switchover.
The first night's transmission promises a new drama starring Greg Hemphill as Elvis, and a live concert from the Isle of Skye featuring some of Scotland’s best musical talent. In the coming months, viewers can expect a wide range of sport, news, children's programmes, documentaries and entertainment.
