Known as the City of Discovery, Dundee is Scotland’s fourth largest city and home to around 145,000 people.
Dundee is situated by the River Tay on one of Europe’s most impressive geographic locations, 60 miles north of Edinburgh and 67 miles south of Aberdeen.
The City of Discovery title is taken from Captain Scott’s famous Antarctic exploration vessel. The ship is now berthed at Discovery Quay, a beautiful waterfront setting overlooking the River Tay and the Tay rail and road bridges.
Dundee’s two universities, University of Dundee and University of Abertay, have a total of 4,000 graduates annually.
The rate of unemployment is 3.9% and the average house price is £57,191, compared to the national average of £70,220.
With more hours of sunshine than any other Scottish city, it is within easy reach of the world’s finest golf courses in St Andrews and Carnoustie.
There is a wide variety of things to do and places of cultural interest to visit in Dundee. These include theatre, music, dance, museums, galleries and historical buildings.
Dundee City is investing in future success. The City-Vision initiative aims to improve the area and attract new talent, through its Community Planning Partnership.
Funding of £9.3m will be wholly invested in re-connecting the city with a regenerated waterfront area.
